JACKSONVILLE, FLA - The Jacksonville Sharks announce a trade with the Kansas City Command for defensive lineman Richard Washington. Kansas City receives future considerations from the Sharks.

Washington (6’2, 305, Clark-Atlanta) found himself on the transaction wire as a traded player for the second time this off-season. Originally assigned to the Georgia Force Wednesday, September 29, 2010, Washington was traded from Georgia to the Command on Monday, November 15, 2010.

Washington began his collegiate career at University of Delaware in 2003 where he was part of the NCAA Division I-AA (now Football Championship Sub-Division) National Championship team. Clark later transferred to Clark University where he finished his collegiate career in 2009. Washington joins LaRoche Jackson as the second Clark player added to the 2011 roster.

Washington will join the Sharks for his rookie season in the Arena Football League. He does, however, have indoor experience playing for the minor-league Arkansas Diamonds of the IFL in 2010. In 10 games, Washington wrapped up 11 total tackles (9 solo) including 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass break-up.

The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football League (AFL). The reigning South Division Champions are presented by Sea Best Seafood and play all home games on Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Sharks return to action Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Arizona to battle the Rattlers. The Sharks return home Friday, March 18, 2011 to take on division foe Georgia Force.
