JACKSONVILLE –  The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that Jacksonville native and local choreographer April Cooper will become the Assistant Dance Team Director for the 2018 Attack Dance Team. “We couldn’t be more thrilled that April will be joining our Attack Dance Team organization as the Assistant Director, Attack Dance Team Director Laura Bouchy said. I believe she has the artistry and knowledge to continue to develop a high-quality dance team as well as supporting our dance team in our community.”

Cooper comes to the Sharks after her 15-year career in dance, coaching, and choreography. Cooper received her Associates Degree in Elementary Education at Florida Community College at Jacksonville, now known as Florida State College of Jacksonville.  Cooper’s professional career started with the Jacksonville Jaguars Roar, where she proudly cheered for her hometown NFL football team for five seasons from 1999 to 2004.  Following the Jaguars, Cooper spent a season as a cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins in 2006.

During her 2004 season with the Jaguars, Cooper was selected to be apart of the NFL Show Team, where she was given the opportunity to travel around the world and represent the NFL. During her tour, she visited BaharainKuwait and Greenland performing for active military service men & women. Cooper first joined the Sharks as an Attack Dance Team Member in 2010, where she danced for the Sharks in their inaugural season. In addition to her new role as the Assistant Dance Team Director, Cooper is a choreographer and dance coach for INFINITY All-Stars, a local gym that provides competitive cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance.

The Attack Dance Team will hit the stage for the final round of auditions at the Jacksonville Landing this Saturday, October 21 at 1:00 pm. A panel of judges including Cooper will determine the final roster for the 2018 Attack Dance Team by evaluating each candidate during the final audition process.
