SHARKS SEND THIRD PLAYER TO NFL

JACKSONVILLE, FLA - The Jacksonville Sharks announce offensive and defensive lineman Rashaad Duncan has been placed on other league exemption after signing with the Washington Redskins of the NFL.

Duncan (6’2, 315, Pittsburgh) was added to the Sharks roster November 29, 2010. Before being added to the Sharks, he spent time on the practice squad with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers in 2009 and the Buffalo Bills practice squad and roster in 2009 and 2010. Duncan will be entering his rookie season in the Arena Football League.

As a Pittsburgh Panther, Duncan played in all 48 consecutive games in his four active years. Named the Defensive Line MVP in 2008 by the Pitt coaching staff, Duncan recorded 55 tackles with 1.5 sacks in his 13 starts. In 2007, he started 11 of the 12 games, all at nose tackle, recording 40 tackles and two sacks. Duncan finished his career with 145 total tackles and 5.5 quarterback sacks over his 35 starts. Duncan majored in Administration of Justice.

Duncan was an All-Florida Class 3A second-team selection who led Glades Central (Belle Glade, FL) to undefeated regular seasons each of his last two years. He was named to the All-Palm Beach County and All-Western Conference teams along with being selected to play in the Outback Steakhouse All-Star Game. He compiled 62 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and nine sacks as a senior. Duncan also competed in baseball and track and field.

The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football League (AFL). The reigning South Division Champions are presented by Sea Best Seafood and play all home games on Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Sharks return to action Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Arizona to battle the Rattlers. The Sharks return home Friday, March 18, 2011 to take on division foe Georgia Force.
