JACKSONVILLE NATIVE RETURNS TO SHARKS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla - The Jacksonville Sharks announce the return of wide receiver and defensive back Jeron Harvey to the 2011 season.

Harvey (6’5”, 220, Houston), a Jacksonville native returns to the Sharks after a successful rookie season in 2010. Harvey signed with the Sharks on January 2, 2010 after spending time with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. In his first season with the Sharks he recorded 23 receptions for 299 yards and 10 touchdowns and an onside kick return for a touchdown.

Harvey signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars on April 27, 2008, but was released on August 26, 2008.

Harvey transferred to the University of Houston from Dodge City Community College to finish his college career. During his senior year, Harvey started all 13 games at wide receiver and finished second on the squad with 55 receptions for 673 yards and three touchdowns. He earned an All-Conference USA honorable mention for two consecutive years.

Harvey attended Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kan. where he logged in 52 receptions and 14 touchdowns his freshman season. During his career at Dodge City CC he was a member of the SuperPrep Junior College 100. CollegeFootballNews.com listed him as one of the Top 25 Junior College wide receivers, where he landed number 11. Harvey was named First-Team, All-Jay Hawk Conference in his last season at Dodge City CC.

Harvey grew up in Jacksonville, Fla. where he attended Andrew Jackson High School. He had 20 receptions for 400 yards and six touchdowns as a senior. He was named First-Team, All-Gateway Conference after leading his team to an 11-1 record in 2001.
