JACKSONVILLE – With just three days remaining in the Arena Football League’s exclusive period, the 2012 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks took another step toward building its receiving corps of the future on Friday, announcing that wide receiver Bobby Sewall has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a two-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Bobby was able to play all three positions at receiver and excelled on special teams,” Sharks Head Coach Les Moss said of Sewall. “He gained valuable experience as a rookie last year, and there’s no doubt that his game will improve in the 2013 season.”

The 24-year-old Sewall made his Arena Football League debut in 2012, playing in 13 games – starting six – for the Sharks last season. Sewall finished the regular season with 52 receptions for 694 yards and 12 touchdowns, totals that ranked him fourth on the team in each category. He led all Jacksonville receivers with an average of 13.3 yards per catch, and ranked third on the team with an average of 53.4 receiving yards per game. Sewall also logged three carries for 16 yards in 2012.

Sewall made an immediate impact with Jacksonville, hauling in five catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s Week 3 home opener. He had two other multi-touchdown games in 2012, including a 130-yard, three-score performance against the Tampa Bay Storm in Week 13. Sewall also grabbed a season-high 11 receptions in Week 8 against Spokane. After battling through injury late in the regular season, Sewall returned to action in the playoffs with a 22-yard reception in the team’s first round game against the Georgia Force.

In addition to his work on offense, Sewall served as Jacksonville’s holder during the 2012 season.

Before joining the Sharks, Sewall spent time with the National Football League’s Tennessee Titans during the 2010 season. He spent his collegiate career at Brown University, where he racked up 210 career catches for 2,141 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also totaled 121 career rushes for 581 yards and 18 scores. Sewall is a native of Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
