Sharks Claim Top Spot in Polls

Owning the league’s best record, the Jacksonville Sharks (7-2) remain the top ranked team in two polls while retaking the top spot in the AFL Coach’s Poll this week after defeating the Chicago Rush 64-56.

In a week where the AFL saw games determined by last-minute drives and all five Saturday match-ups decided by 3 points or less, the voters of both Power Poll and Arena Pigskin Weekly Rankings have put Jacksonville in the top spot for a second straight week. The coaches around the AFL gave the Sharks 8 of 15 possible first place votes catapulting the Sharks back to the top after falling to #3 in last week’s poll. voters gave the Sharks eight first place votes and a power ranking of 93.0 out of a possible 100.0. Milwaukee and Spokane both jump up one spot to second and third, respectively, while the Chicago Rush fall from #2 to #4. The Tulsa Talons round out the top five. Milwaukee, Chicago and Tulsa all lost last week. Spokane had a bye.

The voters of the Arena Pigskin Weekly Rankings also have the Sharks as the top ranked for a second consecutive week. Chicago follows the Sharks, up one spot from week 9, Milwaukee, Spokane and Tampa Bay. Alabama moves up two spots to #8 after winning in Iowa 45-44. Orlando makes the biggest jump from #13 to #9 after stunning the Talons in Tulsa 57-54.

The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football League (AFL). All home games will be played at Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Sharks take on the Predators in Orlando Friday, June 18th at 8pm. Catch all the action live on the NFL Network. The Sharks return home Saturday, June 26 against the Arizona Rattlers.
