JACKSONVILLE – The 2012 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that offensive lineman Johnny Culbreath has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 25-year-old Culbreath (6-5, 325) is set for his first experience in the Arena Football League. He began his professional career as a seventh-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions in 2011. He missed the 2011 season due to illness, and was released by the Lions during training camp prior to the 2012 NFL campaign.

Before beginning his professional career, Culbreath was a standout offensive lineman at South Carolina State, where he was a college teammate of Shark defensive back Terrance Smith. Culbreath anchored the Bulldog offensive line during his four-year career, as he was selected as a team captain as a senior in 2010. He contributed to the South Carolina State O-line as soon as he set foot on campus, starting eight of the team's 11 games as a freshman in 2007. Culbreath is a native of Monroe, Georgia.

The Sharks also announced that quarterback R.J. Archer has been placed on injured reserve. Following the transactions, the Jacksonville roster remains at the league maximum of 24 active players.
