The Jacksonville Sharks have been assigned wide receiver and defensive back Quintez Smith.

Smith (5’10, 180), a Rookie from Dublin, GA, was a highly decorated cornerback after his senior season as a Shaw Bear in 2009. Smith was named a Division II All-American as well as Black College All-American, HBCU All-American, and the American Football Coaches Association All-American. Smith was also the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.

Smith was a stand out at Shaw and put his name in the record books several times. Smith tied both Division II records for interceptions returned for touchdowns in a game (3) and interceptions returned for touchdowns in a season (4). His 194 total yards against Elizabeth City State put him alone at the top of the lists for Division II. Shaw was selected to play in several All-Star Bowls including the HBCU Bowl, East Coast Bowl, Cactus Bowl and Texas verse the Nation game.

To make room for Quintez Smith on the active roster, the Sharks placed OL/DL Mike Lucian (6’3, 302, Penn St) for recallable reassignment. Lucian saw limited action this season but did have one tackle, six assists, one sack and a forced fumble.
