JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that Defensive Lineman Damien Jacobs signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for the 2018 season.  This will be his second season of arena football and second with the Sharks.

Jacobs (6’3”, 300) signed with the Sharks prior to the 2017 training camp and subsequently released.  He was re-signed under Head Coach Siaha Burley on June 2 to begin his rookie season. Jacobs played in three games for the Sharks during the regular season totaling eight tackles, 3.5 for a loss, 3.5 sacks and one interception. Prior to the Sharks, Jacobs participated in the 2014 Buffalo Bills training camp.

Jacobs began his college career at East Mississippi Community College, made famous by the Netflix Original Series “Last Chance U.” During his time with coach Buddy Stephens he racked up 47 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, two sacks and two fumble recoveries helping the Lions to a perfect 12-0 record and a National Championship in 2011. Jacobs finished his college career at the University of Florida where he recorded 34 tackles, six for a loss, 2.5 sacks and one interception. He had a career high of six tackles against Georgia Southern and was awarded the Gators Patrick Courage Award.

Jacobs is a native of Gibson, Louisiana and played for H.L. Bourgeois High School where he was ranked the 75th best defensive lineman in the nation and third in the state. During his senior year he had an impressive 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks and six forced fumbles.
