JACKSONVILLE – The 2017 National Arena League Champions, the Jacksonville Sharks enter the new year by adding veteran coach Dave Ewart to the 2018 Sharks coaching staff. Ewart will become the Sharks Assistant Head Coach after coaching in arena football for 24 years, seven of which he served as a Head Coach. Ewart comes to Jacksonville after winning an IFL Championship with Arizona Rattlers in 2017 as the Rattlers Defensive Coordinator. As the Defensive Coordinator for the Rattlers since 2014, he went 54-14 and also won two ArenaBowls.  

During his career in arena football, he coached for seven teams and was the head coach for the St. Louis Stampede (1996), Texas Terror (1997), Florida Bobcats (2000-2001) and the Tampa Bay Storm (2011-2013). He has also served as a Defensive Line coach, Special Teams Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator and Offensive Coordinator since beginning his pro coaching career in 1994 with the Cleveland Thunderbolts.

Prior to coaching in arena football, Coach Ewart was a Offensive Line Coach at East Tennessee State in 1991 and was the Defensive Line Coach and both the Offensive & Defensive Coordinator at Glenville State College from 1992-1993.

As a player, Coach Ewart started his college career at Salem International University where he was a offensive lineman. Ewart transferred to East Tennessee State where he was an All-Southern Conference selection and was a Division 1AA All-American selection.
