Jacksonville signs Former AFL Lineman Justin Wells

JACKSONVILLE- The Jacksonville Sharks announced today the signing of offensive lineman Justin Wells for his sixth season of arena football and first with the Sharks.

Wells (6’4”, 325) spent the 2018 season with the High Country Grizzlies of the American Arena League.  Wells also played for the Grizzlies during their inaugural 2017 season in the National Arena League. Before joining the Grizzlies, Wells spent most of his career in the Arena Football League, signing with the Philadelphia Soul in 2017, the Las Vegas Outlaws in 2015, and the Orlando Predators in 2014, and 2013 with the Arizona Rattlers. In 2012, Wells was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Carolina Panthers for training camp, Wells was waived on August 24, 2013, prior to the start of the regular season.

During his college career, Wells played for St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC. Wells was a key member on an offense that set the school record for points and total offensive yards. Wells also helped the school to its first-ever bowl victory after St. Augustine’s University defeated Fort Valley State 20-9 in the 2010 Pioneer Bowl. Wells was selected to play in the both the Dixie Gridiron All-Star Game and the HBCU Classic. Before graduating, Wells also received Associated Press First Team All-American honors.   

Wells is a grew up in Baltimore, Maryland where he was an offensive lineman for Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
