Jacksonville Re-Signs Linebacker Leon Mackey

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that Linebacker Leon Mackey has re-signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for his sixth year of arena football and second with the Sharks.

Mackey (6’5”, 260) signed with the Sharks as a defensive lineman for 2018 season but moved to linebacker. Mackey played in three games for the Sharks recording three tackles and one sack. Prior to his career with the Sharks, Mackey played in the National Football League, Arena Football League, Canadian Football League, Indoor Football League, and Championship Indoor Football League. Mackey signed with the AFL’s Baltimore Brigade (2017), Arizona Rattlers (2016-2017), the CFL’s Winnipeg Bombers (2016), the CIF’s Chicago Eagles (2016), the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings (2015), the Arizona Rattlers (2014), and the IFL’s Green Bay Blizzard (2014).

Mackey began his college career at Hinds Community College but transferred to Texas Tech where he totaled 47 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Mackey is a native of Wilmington, DE where he attended Christiana High School.
