JACKSONVILLE, Fla - The Jacksonville Sharks announce defensive lineman Michael Hancock has been placed on Other League Exemption after signing with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

Hancock (6’7, 260, Florida Atlantic) signed with the Sharks after being invited to training camp with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL. He was worked out privately twice by the Miami Dolphins and once with the New Orleans Saints.

Hancock played four seasons (2005-2008) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). As a redshirt-senior at Hancock accumulated 36 tackles, seven for a loss, and six sacks. He also returned a fumble recovery 34 yards. In 2008, his exemplary character, commitment and courage earned him a nomination for the Rudy Award, based after the former Notre Dame walk on of movie fame.

Hancock attended Coral Springs Christian High School in Coral Springs, FL where he was named a two-time all-conference member and the team’s leading tackler. Hancock was a three-sport athlete competing in football, baseball and track. He finished sixth place in the state track meet in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles.
