SHARKS ADD VANDERBILT GRAD TO ROSTER

JACKSONVILLE, Fla - The Jacksonville Sharks announce the addition of Defensive End Broderick Stewart to the roster.

Stewart (6’5, 230, Vanderbilt) joins the Sharks for his rookie season in the Arena Football League after spending time with the New York Jets and Toronto Argonauts in 2010.

As a Commodore, Stewart started 23 games including all 12 his senior season in 2009. As a senior, he compiled 28 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 fumble forced and 5 passes defended. Stewart’s impact at defensive end was recognized instantly when he finished with 19 tackles and 5 sacks as a red-shirt freshman in 2006. He finished his career with 18 sacks, only 3.5 sacks short of Vanderbilt’s all-time sack record. He graduated from Vanderbilt in May of 2010 with a degree in Engineering.

Stewart, a Newnan, Georgia native also played basketball and ran track at Riverside Military Academy. He averaged a near double-double in basketball his senior season while also capturing the GISA triple jump state title with a 44’9” effort. He was also an honors student and played piano for the Academy’s band.
