SHARKS ADD FORMER NFL RECEIVER06/22/2011 8:26 PM - Jacksonville, FLA-The Jacksonville Sharks continue to add depth at the wide receiver position by adding Bobby WIlliams to the roster on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Williams (6'3, 205) graduated from North Alabama. During his senior season Williams helped lead the North Alabama Lions with 50 catches for 715 yards and four touchdowns. After his junior season Williams transferred from Middle Tennessee State. While a junior at MTSU, Williams started only one game and caught 18 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns. As a sophomore he started nine games and led the team with 36 receptions for 378 yards and a touchdown. Williams started the final 10 games of his freshman year, catching 22 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown. Over his collegiate career Williams caught 106 balls for 1579 yards and 9 touchdowns. Williams has had experience with three NFL teams. The Minnesota Vikings signed Williams as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He was waived after training camp and signed to the Houston Texans Practice Squad on September 6, 2010. After being waived by the Texans, Williams was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad on December 14, 2010. He most recently had a workout with Philadelphia Eagles in January 2011. Williams returns to Jacksonville where he was part of two Class 5A state basketball titles for the Raines Vikings. He was also named Raines' top wide receiver his junior and senior seasons. As a Viking, he compiled 82 receptions for 1,743 yards and 17 touchdowns. As a senior, he was named to the Florida Times Union All-Coast Super 24 team.
