10/28/2011 11:37 AM - JACKSONVILLE - The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks have announced their schedule of theme nights for the upcoming season. Each of the team’s ten home dates will feature a distinctive theme that will be reflected in on-field activities, arena excitement and fan participation.

The promotional schedule features a diverse range of events that will celebrate the success of the 2011 team, give fans a chance to attend the game in costume and honor the work of key contributors to the community.

The season begins with Championship Pride Night on March 24. During the game against the Georgia Force, the Sharks will raise their Conference and ArenaBowl Championship banners earned during the 2011 season. Additionally, the returning players from last season’s team will receive their championship rings in an on-field ceremony.

The first of several pop culture themed nights arrives on April 13 for Hollywood Movie Award Night. Dress as your favorite character from the silver screen and you just might take home a “Sharkie” award of your own.

The Sharks’ April 28 game against the Spokane Shock serves two purposes. First, it will be Education Appreciation Night, as all students, teachers and administrators will be able to present their current school ID to receive Buy One, Get One Free tickets. It will also be Superhero Night, and fans are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero - or supervillian!

The next home game arrives on May 4, and though the game arrives one day before Cinco de Mayo, that won’t stop the Sharks from hosting their own “Cuatro de Mayo” fiesta! Kick off the weekend with a party as the Sharks battle their division rival New Orleans VooDoo!

On May 19, the Sharks will recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by those who serve and have served in our nation’s Armed Forces. All current and former service personnel and their families will be able to bring their military ID in order to receive Buy One, Get One Free tickets.

Sea Best Field leaves the galaxy on June 2’s Star Wars Night. Come dressed as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader or even Chewbacca as we celebrate the movie franchise that has spanned generations.

June 16 may be over four months away from the end of October, but that won’t stop the Sharks from getting spooky for Halloween in June. Break out your favorite costume or test out something new for next year’s trick-or-treating!

From classic rock to disco and everything in between, the 1970s had no shortage of memorable music and fashion. Join the Sharks in celebrating that decade on June 23rd’s 70s Night, marking the return of a popular theme from the 2010 season.

It’s then time to head kick back and relax in Shark-A-Ritaville, coming to you on July 6 against the Milwaukee Mustangs. Enjoy as we turn Sea Best Field into a tropical paradise!

Finally, the regular season comes to a close on July 14 against the rival Orlando Predators for Fan Appreciation Night. We’ll celebrate the Sharks’ “9th Man” with special giveaways and much, much more. And after Predator fans referred to Shark Nation as “rednecks” last year, we can let them kneel before us and kiss our redneck championship rings. Break out your jean shorts and trucker hats and remind any Orlando fans you see about last year’s final score - Rednecks 3, Mickey Mouse 0!
