04/17/2012 5:38 PM - JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville Sharks second-year wide receiver Terrance Smith has one again earned recognition for an outstanding on-field performance, as the Arena Football League announced Tuesday that Smith has been selected as the AFL Playmaker of the Week for Week 6 of the 2012 season.

In the Sharks’ 75-67 loss to Utah on April 13, Smith exploded for 309 all-purpose yards in impressively balanced fashion, recording eight receptions for 154 yards to go along with 155 kick return yards on seven attempts. Smith also set the pace with five receiving touchdowns in the game, including a 38-yard touchdown in the final minute that pulled the Sharks within a point of the Blaze.

That total of 309 all-purpose yards easily surpasses his previous season high of 259 and stands as the second-highest single-game total for any player in the Arena Football League this season. Smith now leads the League with 231.8 all-purpose yards per game, nearly 35 more yards than the player in second place. Notably, beginning with the season opener in Kansas City, Smith has accounted for a greater number of all-purpose yards in each successive game this season.

Through four games, Smith leads the Sharks with 10 receiving touchdowns, is tied for the team lead with two rushing touchdowns and has accounted for both of the team’s two kickoff return touchdowns this season. He ranks second on the team in both receptions (28) and receiving yards (367), and is tied for the team lead with 13.1 yards per reception.

With this award, Smith has now earned Playmaker of the Week honors following each of his team’s last two games, winning the Week 4 award following his performance against the Tampa Bay Storm on March 30.
