ANDRE CAROLL HEADED TO CFL

09/20/2012 8:00 AM - JACKSONVILLE – The 2012 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that defensive lineman Andre Caroll has signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, joining the team’s active roster.

This marks Caroll’s third stint with Winnipeg, as the lineman spent each of the last two CFL training camps with the team. He first joined the Blue Bombers in 2011 before being released prior to the start of the season. He then spent time with the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns before being assigned to the Sharks’ roster last October.

Caroll again competed for a spot with Winnipeg during 2012 training camp, registering two tackles and a sack in the team’s first preseason game. After being released by the Blue Bombers, he joined the Sharks for the remainder of the 2012 AFL season. Caroll played in Jacksonville’s final three regular-season games, registering 0.5 total tackles and a quarterback hit. He also appeared in each of the Sharks’ two playoff games, during which he totaled 2.0 total tackles (2 solo) and forced a fumble.

Prior to beginning his professional career, the 25-year-old native of Neptune, New Jersey played collegiately at Delaware State.
