SHARKS BUILD DEPTH AT RECEIVER WITH DJ HALL

01/25/2013 5:52 PM -

JACKSONVILLE - The 2012 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Friday that wide receiver D.J. Hall has been assigned to the team’s roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 2013 season will be the 26-year-old Hall’s second in the AFL, as he spent the 2011 season with the Pittsburgh Power, catching 20 passes for 176 yards and five touchdowns. After battling through injury during the first half of the season, Hall broke out with a three-touchdown performance against the Orlando Predators. Hall also recorded one carry for two yards.

Before heading to the AFL, Hall participated in training camp with the Canadian Football League’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers prior to the 2010 season. He originally signed with the NFL’s New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2008. Though the Giants waived Hall toward the end of training camp, the receiver did log time on the Oakland Raiders’ practice squad that year.

Hall spent his college career at the University of Alabama, leaving the school as one of the most decorated receivers in Crimson Tide history. Entering the 2012 college football season, Hall held all-time school records for most receptions in a career (194) and most receiving yards in a career (2,923), and ranks second in career touchdown receptions (17). Hall is also the owner of two of the top three totals for receiving yards in a season in Alabama history, topping the 1,000-yard mark in both 2006 and 2007.

Hall is a native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and attended Choctawhatchee High School.
