JACKSONVILLE - The 2012 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that defensive lineman Rashaad Duncan has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a two-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old Duncan (6’3”, 330) joined the Sharks in December of 2011 but missed the entire 2012 season with an injury suffered during training camp.

He had also been assigned to the Sharks’ roster prior to the 2011 season, but was then signed by the National Football League’s Washington Redskins before playing a game in Jacksonville. Duncan was waived by the Redskins on July 30 of that year.

Duncan began his NFL career in 2009, signing as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He logged time with the practice squads of the Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills in 2009, then spent the entirety of the 2010 season with Buffalo.

Duncan played his collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh, where he appeared in 48 consecutive games during his four seasons at the school. As a junior in 2007, Duncan started 11 of the team’s 12 games at nose tackle and recorded 40 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks. He concluded his career at Pittsburgh with a career-high 55 tackles during his senior year.

A Florida native, Duncan attended Glades Central High School in Belle Glade.
