JACKSONVILLE - The 2013 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Monday that the team has been assigned offensive lineman Jerry Evans on a one-year rookie contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 24-year-old Evans (6'2", 315) is set to begin his AFL career after anchoring the interior of the offensive line at Morgan State University. Evans wrapped up his career with the Bears in 2012, his third season in which he served as the school's starting center. After seeing action in a reserve guard role as a redshirt freshman in 2009, Evans manned the valuable center position for each of his final three years at the school.

A native of New Castle, Delaware, Evans attended Hodgon Vocational Technical High School, where as a senior in 2007 he earned All-Conference honors as both an offensive and a defensive lineman.
