JACKSONVILLE – The 2013 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks have announced the schedule of Theme Nights and promotions for the upcoming 2014 season. The Sharks will again offer a variety of themes decided to encourage fan participation and deliver the ultimate fan experience at Sea Best Field. In addition, the team will incorporate a number of Appreciation Nights and other initiatives to directly benefit the Jacksonville community.

The Sharks’ 2014 home schedule begins on March 29 against the San Antonio Talons, and this will be our chance to pay homage to one of the most popular television shows of all time, “Saturday Night Live.” On SNL Night, come dressed as your favorite character as we’ll cover the decades from Chevy Chase to Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg.

Two weeks later, the Sharks return home for Pirate Night against the Tampa Bay Storm on April 11. Selected by Shark fans in a vote held during November, Pirate Night is your chance to break out your eye patch and honor your favorite swashbuckler. Be careful, anyone wearing Storm gear might be forced to walk the plank!

April 26 sees expansion Portland Thunder come to the Shark Tank. This will be a continuation of what began as a billboard paid for by the Orlando Predators and has since taken on a life of its own – Redneck Night. It’s all in good fun, come dressed in a camo hat and cutoff shorts as we send the Thunder back to the Pacific Northwest!

We’ll change things up on May 3, as the two-time defending champion Arizona Rattlers come to town for Grease Night. Black leather jackets are back in style, and whether you prefer the original musical or the film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, there will be something for all fans of this all-time classic.

On May 17, we will hold our annual Military Appreciation Night as the Sharks take on the Orlando Predators. This is our opportunity to honor the sacrifices made by those who serve and have served in our nation’s Armed Forces. For the fourth straight year, the Sharks organization will use this night as a platform to generate donations to a military-related organization.

The Sharks’ June 7 game against the Spokane Shock marks the culmination of this year’s edition of Chum’s Reading Initiative, as elementary school students throughout the greater Jacksonville area will have earned a ticket to the game by meeting each of their three quarterly reading goals during the school year. To go along with Education Appreciation Night, it will also be Heroes & Villains Night. We hope to see you come dressed as your favorite superhero… or super villain!

On June 28, the Sharks take on the Pittsburgh Power for this year’s edition of what has quickly become one of our most popular theme nights – Halloween in June! As always, we’ll have plenty of spooky surprises in store, and our friends at The Dungeons Haunted Attractions are already working on ways to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever!
Whether you were there yourself, lived through that time, or have heard about it from your friends and relatives, many of us have great stories from Woodstock in the summer of ’69. When the Sharks host the New Orleans VooDoo, we’ll pay tribute to that legendary festival with SharkStock, our own version of “3 Hours of Peace & Music.”

Finally, the 2014 regular season wraps up on July 26 as the Los Angeles KISS make their first appearance on Sea Best Field. We’ll be in the holiday spirit again this year for Christmas in July! With Fan Appreciation Night on tap as well, we’ll deck the halls with plenty of great giveaways to close out what is sure to be a memorable fifth season of Sharks football!
