JACKSONVILLE – The four-time South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks are less than 24 hours away from taking the field for the first time in the 2014 season. The team will hold its first practice of training camp on Saturday, February 22 at approximately 5:00 p.m. The exact start time is dependent on when all players complete required physicals.

This season, training camp practices will be held at the Orange Park Athletic Association Field, located at 1068 Fromhart St. in Orange Park. After Saturday’s initial workout, camp practices will typically run from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Shark fans wishing to observe practice may do so, as all training camp practices are open to the public.

The 2014 Sharks will feature a talented roster with a balanced mix of core veterans and promising rookies. Beginning on Saturday, the team will embark upon a two-week training camp of rigorous practice and intensive film study, work that is designed to both acclimate players to the team’s system and allow Head Coach Les Moss and the rest of the Sharks’ staff to evaluate their roster.

In the middle of training camp, Sharks players and coaches will have the opportunity to test themselves against a division rival, as Jacksonville will host the Tampa Bay Storm in a preseason scrimmage on Sunday, March 2 at 4:00 p.m. Admission to the scrimmage is free of charge, though fans are asked to bring a donation of pet food that will be collected on behalf of First Coast No More Homeless Pets.

In advance of the start of training camp, the Sharks announced several transactions on Friday. The team has been assigned rookie Mac linebacker Corey Hasting (6’2”, 255) and rookie defensive back Keiron Jones (5’9”, 185). Hasting spent his collegiate career at Ohio University and participated in the Sharks’ open player tryout on February 15. Jones was a mainstay in the secondary at Southeastern Louisiana.

In addition, the Sharks announced that quarterback Aaron Garcia, Mac linebacker Aaron Robbins and defensive back Kent Richardson have been placed on Refused to Report, while Jack linebacker Kelvin Morris, wide receiver Bobby Sewall and offensive lineman Ayo Ademiluyi have been placed on reassignment.
