JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks made several transactions on Monday, as the team has activated quarterback Lee Chapple from inactive reserve and has activated Mac linebacker Pierre Turner from league suspension. Additionally, the team has placed Mac linebacker Jimmy Gordon on inactive reserve and has traded quarterback Alex Carder to the Portland Thunder in exchange for a claim order position.

Chapple (6’1”, 210) is in the midst of his third season with the Sharks and in the Arena Football League. He served as the Sharks’ backup quarterback and holder in the first seven games of this season. In limited action under center, Chapple has completed all three of his pass attempts for a total of 24 yards.

Chapple first came to the Sharks in 2013, as he saw action in one game that season. He then returned to the team midway through the 2014 campaign. Over the course of his AFL career, Chapple has completed eight of 13 passes for 59 yards. He has not thrown a touchdown or an interception.

Turner (6’2”, 250) is in his first season with the Sharks and fifth in the AFL. To this point in the season, he has started three of the four games in which he has played, totaling 4.5 tackles. Prior to heading to Jacksonville, Turner spent the previous three seasons with the San Antonio Talons. First breaking into the AFL in 2011, Turner has recorded a total of 83.0 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. He has also broken up four passes, forced two fumbles and recovered another.

Following the moves, the Jacksonville roster remains at the League maximum of 24 active players.
