Jacksonville Strengthens Title Pursuit with Elder, Carter Signings
Jacksonville, FL - The Sharks are excited to welcome two new signings to the Tank. DB Larry Elder and DL Andre Carter arrive in Jacksonville hungry to add their talent to a championship-caliber defense as the beginning of the 2026 IFL season approaches.
Elder (6'0, 200 lbs) played four seasons at Long Island University (N.Y.), where he saw action in 32 games, recording 175 total tackles and 103 solo stops. He earned All-NEC third-team honors in 2022 with 71 tackles and 49 solo stops. To close out his collegiate career, he transferred to Valdosta State, where he slotted in as an immediate defensive upgrade for the Blazers. He appeared in 14 games that season, compiling 107 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and an interception while contributing to Valdosta State's push to the NCAA Division II title game. Elder looks to add depth, leadership, and consistency to the roster, bringing a strong work ethic and competitive edge to his position group.
After redshirting his freshman season, Carter (6'5, 285 lbs.) developed into a key contributor along Western Michigan's defensive line. Over four seasons with the Broncos, he appeared in 46 games with 24 starts, helping lead them to a Quick Lane Bowl win before transferring to Indiana. In his lone season with the Hoosiers, Carter recorded 49 total tackles, including 11 tackles for loss and two sacks, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention recognition in 2023. The Detroit native arrives at the Tank ready to bring his size, physicality, and veteran leadership to the defensive front. With experience at both the MAC and Big Ten levels, Carter adds proven production in the trenches and the versatility to disrupt opposing offenses against both the run and pass.
