Sharks Keep Streak Alive, Last Second Block Field Goal Seals Win Over Fishers Freight
JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Sharks extended their winning streak to seven games with an exciting last second blocked field goal to sweep the Fishers Freight on Saturday. The Sharks move to 8-1 on the season.
After a rocky start, the Sharks quickly settled in and found their rhythm. The defense responded in a big way, highlighted by a massive hit from Clay Fields III and a goal-line stand that saw DB John Hugginsforce a turnover in the end zone. Isaiah Major scooped up the loose ball and returned it all the way to the Fishers 11-yard line, setting up Billy Bowens to walk untouched into the end zone for the game's first score and a 7-0 Sharks lead.
However, the Freight quickly fought back, turning the game into a score-for-score battle. Fishers answered to open the second quarter and tie the game at 7-7, but Jacksonville responded immediately. Redd Douglas punched in a touchdown, and Marc Orozco added the deuce to push the lead to 16-7. After Fishers cut the deficit to 16-14, Jacksonville delivered the play of the half.
