WEEK TWO PREVIEW: SHARKS VS PIRATES

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Sharks (0-0) inaugural game in the Indoor Football League (IFL) will take place at Tsongas Center on Saturday, March 23rd against their former rivals Massachusetts Pirates (1-0).

The Pirates started their season last week on the road against the Green Bay Blizzard. Massachusetts secured the win 44-40 after a successful two-point conversion with just 15 seconds left in the game. Quarterback Alejandro Bennefield passed for 111 yards and three touchdowns. Bennefield's top targets were receivers Teo Redding, Isaac Zico, and Jimmie Robinson. Defensive back Devin Hafford scored two points for the Pirates after returning a fumble on a Blizzard extra point attempt.

The 2023 National Arena League (NAL) champions, Jacksonville Sharks, are looking to prove themselves in their new league. All eyes will be on Sharks quarterback Conor Blount, who is making a comeback after suffering a season ending elbow injury in Week four last season. IFL veterans DL Jermiah Price, OL Gibril Ghee, and DB Jabari Gorman will play crucial roles in the Sharks 2024 debut.

The last time the Sharks and Pirates met was in July of 2019. An interception by Robert Brown led the Sharks to a 54-47 overtime win.
