Week 16 Preview: Sharks vs Storm

Box Score JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Sharks head to Sioux Falls for their second face-off of the season against the Storm.

Last week, the Sioux Falls Storm faced the Frisco Fighters in a crucial late-season game, needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Despite a strong first half, where the Storm led 34-21, the Fighters dominated the second half and won 55-40.

The Storm's defense started strong, and their offense kept pace, but turnovers in the second half shifted momentum. Lorenzo Brown struggled with three interceptions, leading to a Fighters' comeback. T.J. Edwards excelled for Frisco, with 137 passing yards, 104 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns. Tyrell Pearson's three interceptions for the Fighters were pivotal in securing the win.

Looking back at last week in Jacksonville the Sharks were looking good as they have most of the year in the first half against the Massachusetts Pirates, and many were expecting them to pull out a win.

Before halftime, the Pirates extended their lead with two touchdowns, while the Sharks only managed two field goals, resulting in a 24-14 halftime score. By the start of the fourth quarter, the Pirates led 37-21. The Sharks showed signs of a comeback with a touchdown and successful extra points, narrowing the gap to 37-30.

However, a touchdown by Pirates running back Jimmie Robinson and an overturned Sharks touchdown sealed the game at 44-30. The Sharks must find a way to execute critical plays as they prepare to face the Sioux Falls Storm on Saturday, June 29th.

The loss the Storm took last week jeopardizes their playoff chances, making their upcoming game against the Sharks on June 29th critical for them. They will be playing hard, which Jacksonville will need to be prepared for.  The Sharks will send out new starting QB Kaleb Barker to try and get things going and get some momentum in South Dakota.
