Mathews was ranked 6th nationally with an average of 13.5 yards per punt return.In the 2019 season he appeared in 12 games and started in 9. He recorded 36 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns, 19 punt returns for 125 yards, 4 rushes for 18 yards and 25 yards on 1-for-1 passing.
