Box Score MOLINE, IL - The Jacksonville Sharks ended their 2025 season with a tough 41-57 road loss to the Quad City Steamwheelers. Despite being behind almost the whole game the Sharks tied score in the fourth quarter, but the Sharks were unable to hold off a strong and determined Quad City offense.
Jacksonville won the coin toss and immediately put points on the board with a deuce from kicker Dylan Barnas. However, the Steamwheelers responded by driving to the 15 yard line before Dion McShane hauled in an 11 yard touchdown pass. The extra point was good, putting Quad City up 7-2.
The Sharks were backed into a 3rd and 20 situation by another penalty but benefited from a holding penalty on Quad City, setting up a new set of downs. Quarterback Tyler Huff moved the Sharks to 3rd and 4, but his fourth down pass was tipped in the end zone, resulting in a turnover on downs.
Steamwheelers QB Daquan Neal led a drive to the 1 yard line, where Jordan Vesey rushed in for a touchdown to open the second quarter. After a missed extra point and a successful deuce, Quad City extended their lead to 15-2.
Huff connected with Jaedon Stoshak and then found Lary McCammon on a 26 yard pass to move the Sharks inside the 10 yard line. Huff followed up with a touchdown pass to Stoshak. Barnas nailed another deuce, narrowing the gap to 15-11. But the Steamwheelers struck again before the half and returned a failed deuce attempt for a touchdown, making it 29-11 at halftime.
The Sharks opened the third quarter with a 30 yard touchdown run by McCammon. Quad City answered with a quick touchdown of their own. Huff then found Marcus Rogers for a score, followed by a successful extra point. After another Quad City touchdown, Huff delivered a 30 yard pass to Ka'ron Ashley and rushed in for a touchdown himself to bring the game within reach.
A major momentum shift came when Sharks defender John Huggins intercepted Neal's the goal line, leading to a pair of passes from Huff to Rogers, including the game tying touchdown, making it 41-41 in the fourth quarter.
Quad City, however, regained control with a touchdown and extra point, then profited on Jacksonville's empty drive. Neal threw a deep touchdown pass to a wide open Jared Ware, followed by a deuce that sealed the game at 57-41.
The Sharks managed one last push, with Huff connecting on a deep pass to Stoshak, but they were unable to find the end zone. Quad City ran out the clock to secure the win.
